A message from the founder of RIGHT OFF YOUR BACK  NOTICE--We are temporarily not accepting donations of clothing due to overwhelming community response.

Hello!  Thanks for visiting my website.  My name is Brandi Fitzpatrick and I am a resident of Jefferson City, Missouri.  I founded RIGHT OFF YOUR BACK in April of 2009 after doing some community outreach work through First United Methodist Church.  I volunteered at a local homeless shelter and witnessed first-hand the need in our community.  It went beyond food and housing.  There were kids at the shelter with very few clothes to wear. The clothes they did have were stained and dirty.  Even some of the adults were in torn, stained clothes.  I left the shelter that day a changed person.  I was mad that something so simple as a clean outfit was beyond the grasp of so many people.  I decided to do something about it.

My life path has taken me down many roads.  I spent six years working as a licensed funeral director/embalmer, spent several years in retail sales and currently work as an accounts receivable clerk.  I grew up helping my mother occasionally in a small clothing store and later worked full-time at a local department store.  Clothing, shoes and accessories have always been a "fun" thing for me.  It seemed strange to think of clothes as a mere necessity.  After being at the shelter that day, I realized that's just what it was to each of those people- a necessity.  From that moment on, I made it my life purpose to help provide good, clean, wearable clothing to as many people as I possibly could at no expense to them.

I am not a rich person.  I don't have a lot of resources.  All I have is the desire in my heart to help others, the strength in my body to work, and the voice to spread the word to everyone I know about my mission.  If you share my desire to help others, please take a few minutes and go through your closet.  Donate the clothes that you no longer need or wear.  Get your kids and parents to do the same.  It's as simple as that.
